Dutch rail consultancy chooses assyst as fast track platform

 • 11 March, 2005 16:25

Leading Dutch railway engineering consultancy Holland Railconsult (www.hollandrailconsult.com) has selected Axios Systems’ assyst product to improve IT services for its 1,400 employees.

The IT Service Management solution will be the focal point of the Utrecht-based firm’s IT Help Desk, give it greater control over computer equipment, and enable greater Return on Investment in a competitive market.

Holland Railconsult handles projects related to capacity, safety and integration on the railway network such as designing new railway lines, stations, bridges and tunnels. Its clients in the Netherlands include the Department of Waterways and Public Works, local councils, real estate companies and transport organizations. It also carries out projects for clients in Germany, Poland, Portugal, Ireland and the UK.

The consultancy wanted to take advantage of the upgrade to improve communication to and from the Desk, extend management reporting capabilities, and minimise hardware and software costs through better configuration and asset management.

"Axios Systems provided the best solution for our numerous demands and was selected out of a list of 13 suppliers," commented Annetje Knaap, IT Manager of Holland Railconsult.

"Our IT services are of crucial importance for our business and we wanted to boost their cost-effectiveness without reducing quality," she added. "Implementation of assyst will also give us a better understanding of the true costs of our IT and related services. We are now using assyst for Call, Incident and Change Management and are implementing a higher level of functionality to the organisation as a whole."

The consultancy said reasons for choosing assyst included its functionality, speed of implementation as an ‘out of the box’ solution, and the track record of Axios Systems (www.axiossystems.com) which established an office in the Netherlands in 1999 as the first operation outside its UK base.

Hans Huntelaar, Acting Manager of Axios Systems for the Netherlands, commented: "Railways are of vital importance in this country which provides many of Europe’s busiest transport hubs. We are delighted to have been chosen to provide the ITSM solution for such a high-tech company which has decided that assyst is the first class answer to its IT Service Management challenges."
