Functionality, Durability added to New KIRK DECT Handsets

 • 04 November, 2003 11:54

3 November 2003

Significant enhancements have been made to KIRK’s new family of DECT wireless handsets, cementing KIRK’s position as Europe’s leading manufacturer and developer of DECT solutions for the adjunct PABX market. The new Z-4020 and Z-4040 handsets combine an extremely robust mechanical design with the addition of features specifically developed to meet the diverse needs of users in industries ranging from manufacturing to logistics through to healthcare, warehousing, retail and hospitality. The handsets will undoubtedly be a welcome addition to both the nearly 2,000 existing KIRK DECT systems already installed in Australia and New Zealand as well as to new KIRK users.

Shock, Water and Dust Resistance
Both the Z-4020 and the Z-4040 have been designed to be resistant to the rough treatment common in many industry applications and comply with relevant IEC standards for drop, vibration and bump. The Z-4040 has been further enhanced with an industrial IP54 rating which provides resistance to dust and water, making it ideal for many applications in manufacturing, health and warehousing.

Messaging Support
KIRK systems often interface to a variety of messaging applications such as nurse-call systems, PC messaging and alarm systems enabling text messages to be delivered to KIRK handsets. The Z-4020 and Z-4040 both feature backlit graphic displays and can each store up to 14 text messages.

Z-4040 Enhanced Features
The Z-4040 features an integrated hands-free speakerphone, allowing users to conduct a conference call with a group of colleagues gathered around the phone or to talk on the phone while using their hands for some other task. Combined with headset jack and vibrating ringer, the Z-4040 provides a fully featured solution for the heavy wireless user.

Available for sale in November, these are the fifth generation of DECT handsets from the Danish manufacturer, continuing a century-old KIRK tradition of delivering the latest technology at the highest levels of quality. Excellent voice quality has always been a trademark of all KIRK handsets, as has their physical quality, with one of the lowest return rates in the industry.

With in-built durability, KIRK handsets are designed for a long working life. KIRK’s carefully developed migration plans ensure their handsets will survive future generations of systems, guaranteeing users a good return on their investment. At the same time, all handsets are backwards compatible, allowing new handsets to be used interchangeably alongside older handsets on existing sites. All KIRK handsets comply with the DECT GAP standard, making them compatible with virtually all existing and future wireless systems that meet this standard.
