Microlistics strengthens presence in Thailand through alliance with leading e-fulfillment retailer

 • 17 November, 2003 10:18

Bangkok, Thailand – 17th November 2003 - Microlistics, global supply chain execution solutions provider, announced that WinStore Technologies, based in Bangkok, Thailand, will be the first Thai distributor of Microlistics’ product suite, which includes ISIS, a best of breed warehouse management system. WinStore Technologies will sell, implement and support “ISIS”, which has already been translated into Thai.

The agreement with WinStore Technologies establishes a strong platform for Microlistics to further penetrate the distribution and third party logistics markets in Thailand. Headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, more than 85% of Microlistics’ revenue is generated from business in the South East Asian region.

Its parent company, WinStore Co. Ltd recently implemented the ISIS Warehouse Management System in it’s own Bangkok facility which services a network of over 3000 retail mini markets, supermarkets and grocery stores. Since implementation WinStore has achieved nearly 100% customer service levels and now have the ability to turnaround orders within a day on single unit picking orders.

“ISIS is a very easy to use system, easily configured and most of all, features extensive tracking capabilities required for our business,” said Phiroon Phihakendr, Deputy Managing Director, WinStore Technologies. “It provides the information that we need and allows our warehouse people to work without difficulty. Microlistics’ implementation team was knowledgeable and great to work with. We are extremely pleased with the success and benefits that ISIS has delivered to date.”

“The partnership provides the opportunity to leverage WinStore Technologies’ local technical expertise”, said Phihakendr. “Furthermore WinStore Technologies can provide immediate front-line support in the Thai language more cost-effectively for local Thai companies.”

“The adoption of supply chain execution (SCE) technology applications, particularly warehouse management systems is steadily growing in this region,” said Mark Dawson, CEO, Microlistics. “Businesses recognise that whilst these SCE applications can deliver savings in terms of reduced labour costs and inventory holdings, the real value is in having the capability to better serve clients’ needs, that being having the right quantity of product at the right time in the right place, every time.”

“The trend among Thai companies is to abandon labour intensive paper-based systems and adopt Radio Frequency technology in their warehouses,” added Phihakendr. “The economy has been picking up a great deal under our new prime minister and I see heavier investments from medium and large companies in their WMS in the near future.

"WinStore’s strength in the e-fulfillment will enhance Microlistics’ presence in the Asia/Pacific region," said Dawson. “I am confident that the combination of their strong network, solid reputation throughout the Thai business community and their commitment to helping companies achieve supply chain excellence through technology, will leverage a competitive advantage for the both of us.
