Healthcare services group Genea is on the hunt for a new chief information officer, with its current CIO, Peter Nevin, deciding to move on to a new challenge.
“Mr Nevin felt he had achieved what he wanted to within Genea, having established a strong base for the global organisation’s future success, and he is now looking for new opportunities,” said a spokesperson for Genea. The group specialises in human fertility and comprises three companies (Genea Fertility, Biocells and Biomedx).
Nevin will leave in September. Nevin, a member of the CIO Executive Council, joined Genea in late 2012 following a stint as technology and systems director for the Fiona Stanely Hospital in Western Australia
“The way I came into Genea was through an interim management role and that was extended to a permanent role,” the CIO said.
I’m interested in that type of an environment where I move into an organisation and make significant changes in the organisation, and I guess once it starts to operate in a successful fashion I like to seek other opportunities.”
At Genea, Nevin reported directly to the CEO as part of the organisation’s executive team.
The CIO said some of his key focus areas while at Genea had included work on stabilising the healthcare group’s environment and significant work on process improvements within its clinics.
“Some systems that we’ve implemented are being taken and sold as commercial products externally,” Nevin said.
“Genea is recruiting for a replacement to continue the development of IT systems across the breadth of the biotech and fertility health products and services we offer,” Geneas spokesperson said.
The company has advertised the position.
Genea says it is seeking an experienced CIO to design business strategies utilising digital transformation to drive short- and long-term improvements; manage vendors; oversee ICT infrastructure; guide the delivery of, and lead processes to identify gaps in IT systems; and provide leadership to the IT department.
The CIO will report directly to the CEO.
