Alphawest Acquires PowerPlus Information Management Business (QLD)

 • 29 September, 2003 13:00

Sydney, Australia, 29 September 2003 - Alphawest is pleased to announce it has acquired the Information Management business from PowerPlus, a Queensland based services business which sells, implements and supports advanced Knowledge Management and Information Management solutions.

As part of the acquisition, Alphawest has additionally acquired PowerPlus clients and staff from the Knowledge Management and Information Management side of the business only.

This acquisition is yet another strategic move for Alphawest, following its successful management buy-out late in 2002.

PowerPlus also has a proprietary software development, sales and service business that is distinct from the Information Management business, and it will continue to operate this independently from Alphawest. However Alphawest will become a national reseller of its workflow product.

Alphawest's acquisition of PowerPlus is a strategic decision which further demonstrates both Alphawest's success as a growing company and its commitment to its Information Management Business nationally and in particular Queensland.

Alphawest looks forward to creating further business value for its Queensland government and corporate clients, by designing and implementing effective Business Process, Records and Information Management solutions.

"Alphawest as a partner, not simply another technology supplier, ensures that we continually assess the levels of our expertise and the value our solutions deliver to our clients," said Mr Steve McNally, Director of Sales and Marketing, Alphawest.

Mr McNally says Alphawest's customer-centric Information Management strategy, bolstered by this new acquisition, will see Alphawest delivering increased services and products to the Queensland community.

"PowerPlus is pleased to join a successful Australian owned business with a national focus on delivering Information Management solutions. PowerPlus customers will see the benefits of partnering with an organisation like Alphawest, that can offer end-to-end solutions as a sub-set of Information Management solutions," said Mr John Hardgrave, Director, PowerPlus.

"Our commitment to working with the government and commercial sectors is totally supported through Alphawest's strategic relationships with vendors including Hummingbird, Tower Software, HandySoft, iManage, Sun Microsystems and FileNet.

Mr McNally, Alphawest said, "Alphawest is continuing to invest and develop our Information Management capabilities, to maintain the leading edge in this growing market."

With a strong proven track record in government departments and major enterprises across Australia, Alphawest is also able to provide a unique combination of skills and experience to locally based organisations.

"PowerPlus customers will be assured of the continuation of service and support, while being able to take advantage of the full range of services and national infrastructure now available to them," said Mr McNally.
