<p>BT WINS 3G CONTRACT</p>
<p>BT today announced that it has signed a deal worth over €100 million with 3 in the Republic of Ireland to build and operate its 3G radio access network.
3 signed the contract with Esat BT, which is the local operating division of BT Global Services in the Republic of Ireland. Esat BT will be responsible for building and operating all elements of the radio access network, which will include carrying out the radio planning, site acquisition and construction and setting up of the transmission network.
Bill Murphy, chief executive officer, Esat BT said, “This win demonstrates Esat BT’s ability to deliver major turnkey infrastructure projects to Tier One operators in the carrier market. Our dynamic approach and skilled resource base enabled us to win the confidence of Hutchison. Being involved in the 3G arena is a particularly exciting opportunity, putting us at the core of its growth in Ireland.’’</p>
