Large construction and engineering firm, Leighton Contractors, has restructured its technology teams and removed the CIO role.
Diane Fernley-Jones had been Leighton's CIO for the past seven years but left the organisation recently following the restructure. CIO Australia understands the IT team has been divided between business services and transformation, led by group managers for different areas of IT, but there is no longer any head of IT or CIO.
Fernley-Jones declined to provide comment about the reasons for her departure, saying she will take time out to explore some of her other interests. At this stage, she has no plans to return to a full-time CIO role.
Leighton Contractors also declined to comment on why the company removed the overarching CIO position.
However, a spokesperson said in a statement: "Leighton Contractors has adjusted its IT structure, creating separate teams focused on IT operations and business system implementation, to best serve our operational and business growth priorities”.
