TechnologyOne Announces Connected Intelligence Release of

 • 01 May, 2007 14:10

BRISBANE, 1 May 2007 – Technology One Limited (ASX:TNE), the leading Australian provider of enterprise business software solutions, has launched its new generation Property & Rating solution for local government on its Connected Intelligence (Ci) platform.

Six new customers have signed contracts to implement the new release of TechnologyOne’s Ci Property & Rating solution, including Glenorchy City Council, Warringah Council and New Plymouth District Council.

TechnologyOne has been serving the local government market for more than a decade and provides its software solutions to more than 100 local councils in Australia and New Zealand. Almost a quarter of Australia’s rates notices are generated using TechnologyOne Property & Rating software.

The new Ci version of TechnologyOne’s Property & Rating solution represents the company’s ongoing commitment to evolve its solutions to maintain pace with technological advancements and ensure continuing support of customers’ increasing needs to satisfy new legislative and market requirements. All TechnologyOne clients have the option of six monthly upgrades across the company’s enterprise suite of solutions including Financial, HR & Payroll, Business Intelligence, Supply Chain, Works & Assets, and Performance Planning applications.

Unique to the market, the new Ci Property & Rating solution recognises employee roles and workplaces, with the user’s experience customised to suit their particular information requirements. Instead of having a passive desktop, individuals are presented with an active, role-specific workplace unique to the tasks they are required to complete. This can be tailored for each team member, from middle managers to an accounts payable clerk.

“The Ci platform uses concepts from both web and windows applications that organisations already use,” says Adrian Di Marco, Executive Chairman of TechnologyOne. “This leap in the user experience provides employees with a familiar workspace environment, resulting in an increased use of the system throughout the organisation whilst reducing the need for training.”

The TechnologyOne Property & Rating solution is designed to maximise organisational resources by simplifying and streamlining business processes, allowing councils to invest time where it’s most valuable. Based on service orientated architecture on the .NET platform, the Ci technology platform supports the latest in web services technology to connect disparate systems.

“This delivers a totally integrated and functionally rich solution from a single vendor which is preferable to purchasing 'best of class' products from multiple vendors requiring multiple relationships and introducing integration and workplace interface issues,” said Mr Di Marco. “We expect that single solution, 'best of class' vendors will find it difficult to compete in the long term, as they will find it difficult to invest in future technologies based on a single product proposition.”

The Ci platform also enables councils to swiftly and automatically implement TechnologyOne Property & Rating across their organisation. The solution can also be seamlessly deployed to the wider community promoting community interaction with councils via the web and a range of purpose-built eServices. This provides an avenue for councils to meet the rapidly changing needs of the new self-service, customer-centric government model.

To add further value to the TechnologyOne enterprise suite, the company also provides ‘out of the box’ business intelligence and performance planning across all functional areas. It is the only ERP vendor to provide this breadth of functionality to the local government marketplace.

Rather than develop the underlying technology for its solutions, TechnologyOne remains flexible by harnessing the best industry standard technology on the market. This enables the company to evolve its solutions as technological advances occur, replacing 'older technology' with 'newer and more effective' technology. Some vendors are wedded to their single platform which can create limitations for product development.

“TechnologyOne is committed to providing the local government sector with a fully integrated enterprise solution available from one supplier, which does not compromise on functionality or quality,” says Mr Di Marco. “With the release of TechnologyOne Property & Rating on Ci, we now offer market leading solutions across all application areas and have a number of complementary solutions that can further increase the effectiveness of an organisation.”

TechnologyOne’s Property and Rating and our other enterprise solutions are available as stand alone implementations or as part of a hosted or shared service, providing an accessible solution for councils, both large and small. TechnologyOne is working with the Local Government Association of Queensland to roll this solution out under the banner of LGOne. The hosted model enables smaller councils to share a solution making it more affordable whilst reducing administration overheads.

TechnologyOne has been a long term supporter of local government in Australia and has made a significant investment in support of this week’s national LGMA conference in Tasmania. The recent appointment of Mike Preedy (former General Manager of local government consultancy iPlatinum) is further testament to TechnologyOne’s commitment to market leadership in the provision of enterprise software solutions to the local government sector.
