Brocade has promoted Asia-Pacific senior OEM manager, Greig Guy, to A/NZ country manager.
In this new role, Guy will be responsible for the company’s A/NZ operations and will report directly to Brocade Asia-Pacific vice-president, Charlie Foo.
Foo said the company took the leadership search “very seriously,” spending the last few months in a search process looking at candidates from various backgrounds.
“Australia is a very important market in Asia-Pacific, and one of the fastest growing,” he said.
“It is definitely the fastest in the adoption of technology such as Cloud and virtualisation, which is relevant to us.”
After that extensive process, which involved several senior executives in corporate interviewing several candidates, Foo said Brocade came to a “unanimous decision” to appoint Guy to the role.
“With Greig’s experience and track record, as well as the level of respect he commands internally and externally, he will be able to lead Brocade’s business in ANZ to the next level,” he said.
Foo adds that the local Brocade team is happy with the appointment, and so is the customers and partner community as well.
Guy joined Brocade in 2007 and held the Asia Pacific senior OEM manager up to his promotion.
Coming from a background where he already knows a lot of the partners from the other side of Brocade’s business, Guy said he will actively go out and meet with the ones he does not know yet and work on “any perceived challenges they may have had over the last year or two to help build the IP side of the business.”
“The one thing I have seen in the seven years with Brocade is how well we have partnered in the past, and how we built out our business through the OEMs and their partners,” he said.
Therefore, Guy expects the first task of his role being to go out and meeting people, as well as formulating a plan with the Brocade team to see what is needed to take it forward.
“The key thing that all of our partners want is understand how we will grow the market here with them but without impacting them,’ he said.
