Hansen wins Spanish contract

Billing software developer Hansen Technologies (ASX:HSN) has won a billing and customer care contract with new Spanish mobile service provider Tu Mobile.

Hansen, which specialises in billing systems for the telecom and utility industries, said Telefonica subsidiary Tuenti, currently a social network, will soon launch full mobile services under the TU brand.

Tuenti will integrate Hansen's managed billing services solution into its data centers, in a deal Hansen estimates will be worth an estimated $1 million in the initial delivery phase in FY12.

The company then expects more significant revenue contribution as the TU business expands.

Hansen CEO Andrew Hansen said the contract extends the company's business in Europe, and indicated the company plans to expand its relationship with Tuenti over time.

In a possible hint at future ambitions, Hansen executive director Scott Weir added that the deal would give the company “an opportunity... to work with and learn from a leader in social networking.”

Tuenti parent Telefonica also operates incumbent Spanish mobile brand Movistar.

HSN shares stayed flat on Monday at $0.940.
