Shares in mobile content development company MobileActive (ASX:MBA) climbed by more than a third after it revealed it had secured direct SMS carrier agreements with two major Australian operators.
The company did not name the companies, but said a third deal is expected to be completed shortly, suggesting it will soon have deals with all three major carriers.
MobileActive said it was developing an SMS gateway to be connected directly to Australia's mobile network operators, instead of the current arrangement of going through a third party.
The gateway will be used to deliver SMS-based products and services developed by MobileActive's business to business division Mobile Embrace.
MobileActive said it will also allow the unit to become an aggregator for third parties to also deliver products and services through the gateway.
The company expects the establishment of direct carrier connections to also improve SMS gross revenue margins for its Mobile Entertainment Retail division.
As well as the above units, MobileActive also operates content production and licensing unit RingRing Studios.
MBA shares jumped 37.5% to $0.022 following the announcement.
