Amcom Telecommunications (ASX:AMM) has partnered with Dimension Data subsidiary BlueFire as part of its entry into the cloud computing market.
Under the arrangement, Amcom will offer a suite of IT solutions offered in the cloud to its corporate customers.
The company expects to launch cloud IT services in the fourth quarter or FY11, and said it expects the segment to contribute to earnings by the following financial year.
Amcom entered the hosted voice segment in May last year, after purchasing IP Systems, and plans to offer the cloud services as a complement.
“Our customers are now increasingly looking for these services,” Amcom CEO Clive Stein said. “We anticipate that demand will grow exponentially and we are ready.”
He said the company's extensive fibre infrastructure should give it a competitive advantage in the nascent market.
BlueFire is a cloud services aggregation business that serves the Asia-Pacific region. The company has five data centres across Australia, and one in Auckland.
AMM shares stayed flat on Thursday at $0.320.
