Valleyarm signs free legal music distribution deal

Digital distributor Transol's (ASX:TNC) music subsidiary, Valleyarm Digital, has announced a new sales deal in Australia.

The company has signed a distribution deal that will see Valleyarm tracks made available on the free legal music websites in Australia and the US operated by Guvera Australia.

Guvera offers advertising-funded downloads of music and other digital content.

A Valleyarm spokesperson said the deal had the potential to be significant.

“The potential market of free downloads is at least 100 times the size of the legal market serviced by [paid] download platforms such as iTunes, Amazon and Beatport,” the spokesperson said.

Valleyarm last year announced a series of distribution deals, including with the Nokia Music Store. This store is set to remain operational despite Nokia's scaling back of its Ovi Music Unlimited subscription service.

Valleyarm also announced deals in China, Europe and Japan, and a reciprocal deal with its new European partner.

TNC shares are today trading unchanged at $0.003.
