Telecom NZ shareholders approve new director

Sue Sheldon has been appointed to the board of Telecom New Zealand (ASX:TEL) as an independent non-executive director.

Shareholders voted to appoint Sheldon - a professional director with seats at companies including Contact Energy and Reserve Banks of New Zealand - at the company's annual general meeting today.

Director Murray Horn was reappointed, but Rod McGeoch retired after a nine-year term.

TEL shares are today trading 1.9% lower at $1.550.
