Vocus launches trans-Tasman net peering service

Wholesale telecom operator Vocus Communications (ASX:VOC) has launched an internet peering service for ISPs, telecom services and hosting providers.

The PacificIX exchange will connect Vocus' wholesale customers in Sydney and Auckland.

Vocus said it will allow these customers to transfer internet traffic between the two countries as if they were within the same data centre.

“We believe that PacificIX will further enhance the quality of the internet and telecom services between the two countries,” Vocus CEO James Spenceley said.
