Telecom New Zealand (ASX:TEL) has announced that it has dispatched an extra 100 technicians, engineers and managers to help restore its network sites damaged by the Christchurch earthquake.
The company said the extra hands would help with ongoing restoration work and investigation of over 1,300 network sites.
Telecom has temporarily made 300 payphones in and around Christchurch free to use for local, national and mobile calls, and has so far fielded 2,000 calls.
Rival 2degrees said it had restored power to all its sites, and detected no other damage to its infrastructure.
