The JV between Downer EDI (ASX:DOW) and Kordia has won a contract to provide network design services to the NBN Co’s First Release Site pilot program.
The venture secured the deal after a competitive tender process.
Downer CEO Peter Reidy said the deal was the first of a number of opportunities for the Downer-Kordia venture for the National Broadband Network.
“We [feel that] the opportunity to work with local communities in the development of a state-of-the-art, cost effective broadband network is very significant,” he said.
Downer EDI is an engineering design and management company. Kordia is a NZ state-owned telecom company.
