Ramsay to acquire 57% of French hospital group

Ramsay Health Care (ASX:RHC) has arranged to acquire a 57% interest in French private hospital group Groupe Proclif for €87 million ($142 million).

Proclif manages nine hospitals covering the fields of medicine, surgery and obstetrics, and has around 1,000 beds and day places. The hospital had a turnover of around €133 million in 2009.

Ramsay has entered into a partnership with 43% Proclif shareholder Predica – a personal insurance agency of Europe’s Credit Agricole group – to build a presence in the French acute care sector.

The deal remains subject to regulatory approvals and banking consents.
