QLD calls for EOIs for Gold Coast rail system operation

The Queensland Government has called for expressions of interest for companies looking to run the proposed Gold Coast light rail system.

Companies will have until 24 February 2010 to register their interest, and must pay a non-refundable, $5,500 fee to do so.

The Gold Coast Rapid Transit project is being conducted by Queensland’s Department of Transport, in collaboration with the Gold Coast City Council and the Federal Government.

The project has already secured funding commitments of $949 million, to build a stage one route from Griffith University to Broadbeach, via Southport and Surfers Paradise.
