Semiconductor technology company BluGlass (ASX:BLG) has entered into a research collaboration agreement with two French research organizations for a nitride study.
The company has joined forces with the Group d’Etude des Semi-conducteurs – a unit of the National Centre of Scientific Research – and the University of Montpellier to study nitrides and their applications.
Nitrides are used in the production of LEDs, BluGlass said and are believed to have the potential to convert almost the full spectrum of sunlight into electrical current.
“This collaboration with the GES will be greatly beneficial in the development of nitride solar cells and high efficiency LEDs grown using [the BluGlass-developed] remote plasma chemical vapour deposition technology,” CEO Giles Bourne said.
