Sydney Swans record $750,000 loss for 2009

AFL club the Sydney Swans has recorded a loss of over $750,000 for the second year running, the company has announced.

Chairman Richard Colless blamed the global financial crisis and the failure to make the finals for the first time in seven years for the loss.

He said he would step up its efforts to recruit new members. The swans signed up just 26,269 members in 2009 – the lowest number in the league.
