Optus will do the work of making a website for small and medium businesses with My SiteOnline, the first in a suite of planned SMB services called My BizOnline.
Businesses enter “a few company details and Optus will produce both a business website and a mobile-optimised site, including all copy, images, design, a domain name and hosting,” the telco said of the new service.
The website service costs $5.95 monthly for a 12-month contract, plus “website performance fees” of $1.50, charged every time the website generates a phone call to their business. Optus said it will temporarily waive the base monthly fee for the first 12 months for any existing Optus business customers.
Optus soon plans to assist SMBs with Google AdWords campaigns, it said. “Through packages to be made available shortly, Optus will create, manage and optimise a search engine marketing campaign on behalf of SMB customers.”
Optus found that most small businesses don’t have time to make their own websites. “Our research shows 74 per cent of Australian small businesses identify with the value of being online but are still being held back by time and administrative pressures,” said Optus director Michael Smith.
