Web analytics company Woopra has announced an application for Android-based smartphones and tablets that allows users to keep track of what's happening on their sites in real time.
The company already offers an application for Apple's iPhones and iPads, and the Android app has been designed to match the iOS app and deliver the same capabilities, according to Woopra, which analyzes traffic on more than 200,000 websites.
The Android application has a dashboard that shows a real-time snapshot of the entire website. It shows how many people are on a website, where they're coming from and their activity. Besides analyzing traffic in real time, the company also gathers reports down to an individual level, instead of using sampling.
One of the more important parts of the Woopra platform is its notification system, which allows users to send messages based on any action as it happens, according to Elie Khoury, founder and CEO at Woopra. For example, site administrators can get a notification when users click on a link that doesn't work, he said.
One of the challenges with developing an analytics app for smartphones is the limited screen size, which Woopra managed to get around by presenting summarized reports on buttons, according to Khoury.
The platform also allows users to give visitors support using chat.
The Android app has been submitted to Google Play, which is the new name for Android Market. It will become available on Friday, at the earliest, a Woopra spokeswoman said via email.
The mobile apps are free to anyone with a Woopra account, including those on the free plan, the company said.
