Asia Pacific server shipments jump 21 per cent: Gartner

Enterprise server consolidation drives growth in Asia Pacific

Asia Pacific server shipments rose 21 per cent in the first quater, analyst firm Gartner has reported.

“Enterprise spending on server consolidation using virtualization technology continued to be a key driving factor for server market growth in this region,” said Gartner principal research analyst, Erica Gadjuli, in a statement.

Server revenue grew by 29 per cent year-on-year in the region. Asia Pacific registered the second fastest growth to the shipments worldwide, trailing only Eastern Europe.

“Enterprise spending on server consolidation using virtualization technology continued to be a key driving factor for server market growth in this region,” Gadjuli said in a statement.

HP was the leading vendor in the server market space, with a 30 per cent share in the local region, while IBM scored the lion's share of revenue at 41 per cent.
