The University of Wollongong has expanded the reach of its Innovation Campus after signing up Tickets.com as its latest tenant in the iC Enterprise 1 commercial building.
The five year lease arrangement between the University and the entertainment company will see Tickets.com relocate its Asia-Pacific headquarters from Miranda to the University.
Ticket.com’s general manager for the Asia Pacific region, David Borg, said the facility was a good fit all round, and the best option after scouring the south and south-western suburbs for a partnership.
“The Innovation Campus offered the ideal combination of quality commercial space, excellent IT infrastructure, value for money, and the unique opportunity to collaborate with the University of Wollongong on technology and recruitment initiatives,” Borg said.
The iC Enterprise 1 commercial building is scheduled for completion by mid-2011, with the Illawarra economy set to be impacted through the creation of 16 jobs due to the Tickets.com project; a number set to only increase over the next three years.
The University of Wollongong has already signed up international ICT company, MphasiS and BHP Billition Illawarra Coal as its inaugural tenants, with the NSW Office of Trade, Business and Industry’s regional director, Nigel McKinnon, saying that the project has benefited from assistance from the Illawarra Advantage Fund.
“This relocation will assist Tickets.com as it invests in additional IT systems and expands its workforce,” he said in a statement.
“Tickets.com's relocation to the Innovation Campus at the University of Wollongong is also an indication of the campus' growing reputation as a hub for the knowledge services sectors including IT and business services.”
