Retailers nominated for 'best use of technology' awards

City Beach joins Jeans West, Trixian Body, Jason L and Shoes of Prey for IT excellence

Surf retailer City Beach has been nominated in the 'best use of technology' category at the inaugural online retail industry awards. The retailer will compete against a variety of retailers including Jeans West, Trixan Body, Jason L and Shoes of Prey.

City Beach was nominated for its e-commerce website which was completed and deployed in just 100 days. CIO of City Beach, Paul Downs, said that the award recognises the swiftness of the project.

"I am delighted, on behalf of the business, that we have achieved some measure of industry recognition for the quality of the deployment - the project was very challenging, going from a standing-start to a new channel in a very short period of time," Downs said.

Downs spoke with CIO last month about the project and said as well as deploying the e-commerce project in 100 days, the company was the first in Australia to deploy WebSphere Commerce tools.
