Integrated Web Asset Management product delivers optimised user interface and customer experience

SYDNEY, Australia - 23 October 2007 — Vignette (NASDAQ: VIGN), a leading provider of Next-Generation Web solutions, today announced the launch of Rich Media Services. As an add-on module to the latest Vignette Content Management release, Rich Media Services leverages an optimised user interface for the creation and management of rich media assets including advanced image editing and automation features. Once those assets are ready for distribution, they can be delivered to multiple channels and devices.

Vignette Rich Media Services enables organisations in any industry with rich media management needs to create multiple variations of specific digital assets such as images, video metadata, Podcasts, Adobe® Flash® and other interactive components. Those assets, even in different sizes and formats, can still be managed, approved and published as one unique item, making it easier and quicker to deliver to numerous channels such as the PC, set-top box and mobile applications.

“Our Web properties have become increasingly multimedia focused, and videos, games and on-demand entertainment are just the tip of the iceberg,” said Hugo Lumsdon, new media systems architect at British Sky Broadcasting. “Vignette enables our content owners to streamline the management and approval process of any form of rich media, saving us time and allowing us to provide a more personalised experience to each subscriber.”

“Companies are responding to the market opportunity and imperative to monetise their existing assets by re-packaging them into new and innovative formats,” said Melissa Webster, program vice president, Content and Digital Media Technologies at IDC. “But matching those assets to the endless long tail of potential buyers requires a high level of control. Vignette’s Rich Media Services provides the management and publishing features these organisations are looking for to help them bring those assets to market and begin recognising revenue more quickly.”

Additional Rich Media Services features include:

* Optimised user interface for streamlined management, editing, searching and publishing
* Full integration with Vignette Content Management
* Thumbnail generation and metadata extraction for content reuse/repurposing
* Image Manipulation (crop, resize, rotate and more)
* Personal shelf for managing favorites, recently uploaded or modified media
* Web-based console featuring AJAX, inline actions and in-context editing for enhanced usability

“We began product development for Rich Media Services to address the needs of our Digital Services Hub customers in the telco, media and entertainment industry,” said Leo Brunnick, senior vice president of products and marketing at Vignette. “We soon discovered this product addresses a fundamental challenge faced by any organisation that relies on rich media to build an engaging Web experience.”
