Acer wins multi million dollar PC contract with ABS

Two year contract for 3000 PCs

Acer Computer Australia has won a contract with the Australian Bureau of Statistics worth more than $4 million.

The contract is for the supply of over 3000 PC's and monitors.

ABS IT infrastructure chief, Lane Masterton, announced the deal today which is a two year contract for the supply of desktop computers.

The ABS is the first organization in Australia to conduct a large-scale roll-out of the Veriton 1000, Acer's enterprise level ultra small form factor PC.

Acer general manager for government, education and corporate sales, Mike Cefai, said despite its small size the Veriton 1000 is a fully fledged PC that can reduce power consumption and carbon emissions by up to 50 percent.

Established in 1990, Acer Computer has 480 employees and has grown to become Australia's number three PC vendor.
