Premiere Conferencing launches new disaster management conferencing service

<p>Sydney, AUSTRALIA – May 31, 2004 – Premiere Conferencing, a global provider of enhanced, audio and Web-based conferencing solutions, launched its ReadyConference Critical Disaster Management Service (DMS) today.</p>
<p>The ReadyConference Critical DMS is a service available on a monthly contract for companies to establish audio conference calls with its employees or customers in crisis times such as fires, earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, computer system failures or communication network failures.</p>
<p>During a disaster situation, communication needs grow significantly and companies can be severely compromised if they are unable to get in touch with their crisis team members. ReadyConference Critical DMS can assist companies in minimising disruption to their businesses by providing access to audio conferencing on-demand. It provides dedicated access to audio conferencing to ensure critical communication is conveyed to key stakeholders quickly so that response actions can be co-ordinated.</p>

<p>Customers are assured of the ability to setup conference calls through Premiere Conferencing’s dedicated ports, passcodes and dial-in numbers in its back up locations in Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the United States. To reflect the varying importance of disaster communication needs with different organisations, two levels of service are offered - DMS Basic and DMS Standard.</p>
<p>The DMS Basic service is an automated conference call service where customers can opt to setup a passcode in either Australia, Japan, Hong Kong or Singapore allowing them to initiate conference calls on demand anytime, anywhere with the passcode and dedicated dial-in number in the country of choice.</p>
<p>The DMS Standard service provides dedicated ports in Australia and two backup dedicated dial-in numbers available through Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore or the United States should Australian ports be unavailable. The advantage of a dedicated port is that lines are reserved solely for a customer. Operator-assistance is also available in the DMS Standard service to manage participant queries or to dial and connect participants on the call. Participants can also be notified of the conference call details by email, SMS or voice message.</p>
<p>The availability of phone services on the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) for participants to dial-in on a conference call is essential. However, companies should provide employees with access to satellite phone services as a backup in an event the PSTN becomes unavailable due to natural disasters.</p>
<p>According to the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction Task Force, over the last decade, 4,777 natural disasters have taken more than 880,000 lives, affected the homes, health and livelihoods of 1.88 billion people and inflicted economic losses of around $685 billion on the world’s economies.</p>
