IW Distribution releases a new generation of PBX-to-Skype Gateways

 • 06 March, 2007 16:45

Melbourne – March 6, 2007 - IW Distribution announces the availability in Australia and NZ of new VoSKY Exchange 9040 and 9080 Skype PBX gateways for small and mid-sized businesses

IW Distribution announced the launch of two new PBX-Skype gateway products, the VoSKY Exchange 9040/9080, capable of adding 4 or 8 Skype lines to the PBX with no change in phone or additional equipment

With the VoSKY Exchange 9040/9080 products, businesses can use standard desktop phones to make and receive free and low-cost long-distance and international calls over Skype, the world’s fastest-growing VoIP provider.

Until now many businesses were uncertain about using Skype for business communication as they faced the prospect of installing Skype software on every PC and managing each Skype account for a large or widely distributed workforce.

VoSKY Exchange is the first and only Skype certified solution that enables businesses of 10 to 300 employees to take advantage of Skype call rates. The new products require no changes to existing PBX equipment, phones or user PC’s. Integrating Skype with your PBX can deliver substantial savings for organizations with multiple locations, remote workers and/or partners and suppliers in other cities. Other key savings areas include using Skype-In with the VoSKY Exchange to provide local calling options for customers in other cities, and to provide a low cost Telephone Help Lines.

Several new features have been released in the new VoSKY Exchange 9040/9080 series including stackable, rack-mountable form factor, an eight-port option, call-log statistics and reporting capabilities, control of all Skype lines from a single screen, remote management and easier setup for multiple offices and restoration.

“A large number of Skype users already use Skype for their business but in an ad-hoc manner” said IW Distribution Director, Daryl Chambers. “ A barrier to using Skype in business has been an inability to connect to an office PBX. VoSKY Exchange is doing just that and allows businesses to make large savings on phone calls without changes to the telephone infrastructure or users behaviour”
