The Partner Community is Crucial to Security Vendors' Success in the Australian Market, Says IDC

 • 20 June, 2006 15:26

NORTH SYDNEY, 20th June 2006 – Close to eighty percent of all security software was sold indirectly through the channel in 2005, according to IDC's latest study, "Australia Security Solutions Channel Partner Review, 2006" (Doc #AU32130302N).

IDC recently asked 200 people at the 2006 IDC Australia Directions event if they believe partnerships will be crucial for the future success of their companies. A unanimous 98 percent of the audience agreed that partnerships will indeed be crucial to their success.

Partners are at the frontline in understanding customers because they are the ones facing the customer, often owning the client relationship. "The high number of small to midsize organisations in the Australian market makes it vital for security vendors to build robust partnering, alliance strategies and ecosystems in order to gain and maintain market share," says Patrik Bihammar, Market Analyst, Security Solutions.

This IDC study offers a window into the Australian security partner community. It provides security vendors with insights into channel partners' needs, requirements, expectations and experiences. It also gives perspective, guidance and prescription to help security vendors better understand the needs of their partners as well as how to engage with them more successfully.
