Achieves Support Centre Practices Certification for Third Consecutive Year and is First Recipient of VeriSign Security Certification for its StorageCare(tm) Guardian Offering

AUSTRALIA, Sydney., 31 May 2006 - Quantum Corporation, a global leader in storage, today announced it has achieved two important independent third-party certifications for its world-class customer service and support programs and its secure remote monitoring and diagnostic service capabilities. These certifications are a testament to Quantum's focus on enhancing the overall customer experience by employing best-in-class support practices and secure, innovative service solution offerings.

For the third year in a row, Quantum has received certification under the prestigious Support Center Practices (SCP) program. SCP Certification quantifies the effectiveness of customer support based upon a rigorous set of performance standards that includes more than 100 business best practices examined during an extensive, onsite audit. More impressive, Quantum received its third straight certification during a timeframe in which it was integrating customer support programs following its acquisition of Certance in early 2005.

Quantum has also been recognised as the first recipient of the VeriSign Security Certification for its StorageCare(tm) Guardian service solution. StorageCare Guardian is a remote monitoring and diagnostic tool that enables secure, proactive monitoring of Quantum disk and tape-based systems, and uses diagnostics data to remotely service the equipment should issues arise. In accordance with the VeriSign Security Certification Methodology, VeriSign conducted a stringent assessment of Quantum's security controls associated with its StorageCare Guardian solution. VeriSign Security Certification gives Quantum customers added assurance that information security best practices are being utilised when diagnostic data is transferred between installed systems and Quantum's remote support solution.

Support Centre Practices (SCP) Certification

SCP Certification sets the standard for world-class technology service and support. The program establishes a foundation to build on existing quality processes and provides a clear focus on measurable results. Service Strategies Corporation is responsible for administering the program and conducting certification audits.

"By exceeding the rigorous requirements necessary to achieve SCP Certification, Quantum has made it clear they are committed to delivering world-class support to their customers," said Kristin Robertson, SCP auditor. "During the SCP Certification audit, Quantum demonstrated a clear commitment to customer satisfaction and continuous improvement."

Quantum joins the ranks of other leading technology companies that have achieved the SCP Certification - including EMC, Lockheed Martin Inc., Network Appliance Inc., Nokia, Rockwell Automation, and Xerox Corp. - and remains the only independent backup, recovery and archive company to receive this certification. Currently more than two hundred technology support organisations around the world participate in the SCP program.

VeriSign Security Certification Program

VeriSign, the leading provider of security and infrastructure services, conducted an assessment of Quantum's StorageCare(tm) Guardian remote monitoring and diagnostic solution and certified the solution in accordance with its Security Certification Methodology. The certification assessment, which took more than six months to complete, included a detailed review of the network and application architecture, perimeter configurations, the configuration of selected network devices and servers, testing of the Guardian application itself, and associated policies and procedures. Technical testing included network penetration and application vulnerability testing. VeriSign methodology incorporates openly available requirements from regulations and security standards.

"The vulnerability of applications is one of the largest threats in doing business over the internet today," said Brian Costello, vice president, VeriSign Global Security Consulting. "By undergoing certification of its StorageCare Guardian solution, Quantum has made clear that it sees information security as a critical component of its product

Customers may choose to enable proactive monitoring of Quantum disk-based backup and tape automation systems for error conditions through StorageCare(tm) Guardian, allowing Quantum service personnel to more quickly identify root causes and resolve issues. VeriSign Security Certification provides additional peace of mind that any transferred diagnostic data has received the highest levels of security.

"These important certifications reflect Quantum's commitment to provide a superior customer experience and further demonstrate how our comprehensive services portfolio is a strategic differentiator in the industry," said Todd Kreter, vice president, worldwide customer services for Quantum. "We are very privileged to be recognised by these two organisations. The SCP Certification puts Quantum in elite company among the top global support organisations. The VeriSign Security Certification also raises the bar when customers' information security is considered - reinforcing the customer value of StorageCare Guardian including secure, reliable remote systems monitoring and faster issue resolution."
