One-fifth of Corporate IT Spending is in the Telecommunications Sector, Finds IDC

<p>NORTH SYDNEY, July 5th 2004 – IDC Australia's latest Corporate Vertical Markets Report "The Australian Telecommunications Market" focuses on the adoption of IT within the telecommunications/media market. IDC has found the size of this market was just over $AU1.949 billion dollars in 2003 and growing at a Compound Annual Growth rate of 7.5% between 2002-2007.</p>
<p>IDC found this market made up close to 20% of overall IT spend at the corporate level (500+ employees) in Australia. Even though there has been a turn-around in this sector, it continues to be impacted by the poor financial performance of some of its key players.</p>
<p>“Companies in this market are, in the short term, expected to focus on cutting costs more than investing. The need to reduce fixed costs is offering opportunities for outsourcing, and pockets of opportunities are also found at the front-end such as analytical Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and billing systems“ said Kourosh Ghassemi, IDC's Research Director for Vertical Markets.</p>
