Sydney, Australia, July 7, 2004 —VERITAS Software Corporation (Nasdaq: VRTS), the leading provider of enterprise storage software, today announced that it has upgraded its partner program to support the delivery of its utility computing strategy.

VERITAS’ utility computing model gives companies the fundamental building blocks – availability, performance and automation – they need to transform their IT departments from cost centres to value centres. VERITAS has added systems-management and data-centre automation products to its portfolio to facilitate utility computing and is working with its channel partners to provide the skills and tools they need to start delivering utility computing solutions to customers.

“The VERITAS Partner Program takes our channel strategy to the next level by assisting our partners sell, configure, install and support VERITAS solutions more effectively as we move towards utility computing,” said Bruce Lakin, Managing Director, VERITAS Australia and New Zealand. “This program, which is crucial to our growth strategy, offers recognition and benefits to our partners who have invested in infrastructure and business commitment to build their VERITAS software practices.”

As part of its new partner program, VERITAS has streamlined its distribution channel, which includes the announcement that Express Data and Ingram Micro are now the Australian distribution partners.
“Ingram Micro is a leading distributor of VERITAS storage solutions both in Australia and globally,” said Steve Rust, Managing Director, Ingram Micro Australia Pty Ltd. “This success has been based on our expert knowledge of the product and its target markets, and the programs we have put in place to support our resellers in those markets. The development of VERITAS' channel program combined with our sales support activities will enable us to help our resellers to recognise sales opportunities among their customers and recommend and support the best storage solution.”
