Argus Expands Federal Government Contract

 • 09 December, 2005 15:28

Argus Solutions has secured an agreement with a Federal Government department to expand an identity management solution to interstate sites, following a twelve-month intensive evaluation of an installation at its Canberra headquarters. The deal is valued at more than $100,000.

Argus Solutions Chief Executive Officer, Bruce Lyman, said the expanded agreement was a tribute to the company’s leadership in the field of biometrics.

“In five months the application has completed more than 5,000,000 identifications, without a single system fault or misidentification. This twelve-month evaluation program involved more than 4000 staff and the full commissioning of the product, following practical completion.”

“Just as important was that it was implemented and evaluated without any interruption to the staff workflow. The flawless technical performance is one of the key considerations behind the expansion, as was our performance in project management,” he said.

The project was built around Argus’ Cornerstone product, which enables biometrics to be tailored to any application.

“In this particular case, Cornerstone has been integrated into third party security systems. The integration of Cornerstone with the existing customer card identification documents provides a strong two factor authentication solution, a requirement for those departments which require strong identity management,” said Bruce Lyman.

This successful solution, unique in Australia, is a boost for the company’s work in international markets, with a number of foreign government departments using the project as a point of reference for individual projects.
