State-of-the-Art Facility Leverages FalconStor Technology to Deliver Cost-Effective Data Protection and Managed Services

Sydney, Australia - October 21, 2005 - FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading developer of network storage software solutions, today announced the launch of PrimeVaultSM, its state-of-the-art data protection facility, which leverages FalconStor's award-winning IPStor and VirtualTape Library technology to deliver advanced disaster recovery (DR) and data archiving services, as well as co-location hosting.

FalconStor's PrimeVault centre provides all businesses with the ability to easily replicate their data to its secure, sophisticated site. PrimeVault's highly cost-effective and scalable pricing plans accommodate the varying needs of large, medium, and small businesses. By significantly cutting the costs of deploying and maintaining an alternate site for disaster recovery, PrimeVault offers a practical business continuity solution that brings enterprise functionality within the reach of most organisations. PrimeVault services will be available through FalconStor's channel partners, and relationships are being forged with ISPs and data centre providers to address market segments where a more reliable and scalable storage infrastructure is in high demand.

"The FalconStor PrimeVault service leverages its proven solutions for protecting customer data," said Tony Asaro, senior analyst for the Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG). "FalconStor has years of experience protecting heterogeneous environments, a suite of data protection products that are field proven, and over 1,000 customers. The PrimeVault service enables FalconStor to provide value to both large enterprise companies with remote offices and SMB organisations that don't have an appropriate remote site to be used for disaster recovery."

In today's business climate, organisations of all sizes need to have a remote set of data on standby for disaster protection and for long-term archiving to comply with data retention regulations. PrimeVault provides customers with instant contingency planning - as part of the low monthly fee, each customer is equipped with either FalconStor DiskSafe™ or FileSafe™ software for their local machines to drive fast backup to an appliance pre-loaded with FalconStor iSCSI storage software (also provided as part of the service) at their site. Data is then remotely replicated by the iSCSI appliance to the PrimeVault location, without any impact to the business' production environment.

"Data reliability has become a major concern for all companies, big and small. Lost tapes, data loss and new regulations are controlling the way companies need to secure their data," said Phil Smith, FalconStor PrimeVault director of hosting services. Co-director Joe Goldberg adds, "FalconStor is stepping up and taking on the responsibility to assist companies with their data protection needs."

Businesses utilising PrimeVault can be assured that their critical information is safe since lost, damaged, or archived data can now be recovered quickly and easily from their PrimeVault storage, 24x7x365. PrimeVault offers customers unlimited flexibility and the scalability to grow their business, as well as significant cost savings since there is no need to buy software and hardware, nor to build and staff a dedicated DR centre. Solutions integrators can leverage these features and resell PrimeVault data protection and archiving services.

"We have been offering FalconStor solutions for disaster recovery for some time now," said Brad Wenzel, CEO, Storage Elements. Inc. "PrimeVault opens up another pipeline for sales revenue, by giving us the ability to offer a cradle to grave DR solution, from data protection products to a secondary site to store data."

"FalconStor's technology has a proven track record for protecting data, and partnering with FalconStor PrimeVault gives us the capability to extend our solutions to cover the entire gamut of disaster recovery," said John Thome, Jr., vice president of sales, Chi Corporation. "This is a natural extension of our current FalconStor offerings, and enables us to be a one-stop provider for disaster recovery and data protection."
