AMES chooses Systems Union’s Vision and MIS technology

 • 05 October, 2005 14:08

AMES, an Adult Education Services organisation in Australia, has become the latest company to join the Systems Union user community. This leading not-for-profit specialist multicultural language and employment services organisation has purchased Systems Union’s MIS onVision and Plain, supplemented with the Vision suite of online reporting and analytic software. This provides a holistic approach to delivering Business Intelligence and Performance Management capabilities for the enterprise.

Previously, AMES used a mixture of systems and applications to manage its financial and operational management. And like many organisations, AMES encountered numerous shortfalls with this approach to transactional reporting. The consolidation and aggregation of data and information from these multiple data sources was handled manually and proved time consuming and costly.

Tony Farrell, CEO for Systems Union Australia, comments: “This is a highly significant win for us, clearly illustrating the scope, breadth and relevance of our business performance solutions offering to a diverse range of users and their exacting information needs. We have designed the ultimate holistic business intelligence solution for AMES and are very much looking forward to developing this further into 2006 and beyond.

“We are experiencing a huge uptake in interest from organisations in the Asia Pacific region who are wanting to focus their efforts on ensuring their reporting and Business Intelligence requirements are exceeded through technology which provides a clear and fast ROI without the need to invest a huge amount of dollars,” said Mr Farrell.

The new system will be used at AMES’ Head Office as well as over the company’s Intranet to the 25 AMES sites throughout Victoria and NSW.

Dave Burgos, Project Manager for AMES commented: “Fundamentally we were looking for an integrated solution approach across our financial and wider management systems that were also cost effective to operate. More specifically we needed effective technology and tools that would easily integrate with our IT support capability thereby minimising expenses such as skills upgrading and ongoing cost of ownership.”

AMES originally considered six leading business intelligence vendors for the software implementation which included a pilot trial of the software prior to the final decision being made. Systems Union was short-listed against one other major player, namely Cognos, and won hands down based on the Group’s ability to deliver the exact requirements AMES was looking for in terms of both solution offering and a long term strategic partnership. In addition, Systems Union solutions are closely aligned with Microsoft which was a significant advantage since AMES is familiar with, and uses systems based around, Microsoft’s technology.

By selecting Systems Union, AMES benefits from access to solutions which allow the organisation to easily consolidate corporate information, drawing data from disparate systems into a single, centralised system that provides a unified view of all data in a consistent format. In addition, the rich functionality, highly intuitive and readily customisable natures of the Vision and MIS solutions selected facilitate extensive reporting and analysis of AMES crucial data.

Such powerful capabilities combined with the fact that this data is available in real time ensures that AMES management have access to the right information at the right time in a format to suit the information needs of the business users within AMES. All of this combines to significantly enhance understanding of business performance, management decision making and support strategic planning and planning for the future.

Employing 865 people AMES (www.ames.net.au) has 19 sites in Victoria, 6 sites in New South Wales, and a turnover of $71M in 2004. It is Australia's largest provider of specialist multicultural language and employment services and delivers its educational and support services to over 49,000 people every year.
