Steward joins federal CIO ranks

A senior IT bureaucrat from Centrelink, Ann Steward, has been appointed to the coveted post of federal CIO and general manager of the Australian Information Management Office.

Senior government sources today confirmed the appointment, with staff at AGIMO also being notified today.

Steward will take over from current CIO John Grant on July 11, moving from her present position as general manager, IT planning & refresh for Centrelink.

Steward is widely regarded within the public sector as a skilled, strategic change manager, having previously worked closely with former Centrelink CIO Jane Treadwell, who went on to become CIO for Victoria.

It is understood John Wadeson will remain current CIO of Centrelink. Steward was not immediately available for comment.
