LogicaCMG has won a deal with the Queensland government to design, build and operate the state's gas and electricity certificate registry.
The registry database and Web site supports a new initiative, known as the 13 percent Gas Scheme which requires Queensland electricity retailers and other liable parties to generate at least 13 percent of their electricity from gas-fired sources, resulting in a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. LogicaCMG built the registry, which allows scheme participants to trade gas electricity certificates.
The Web-based application provides 24 x 7 day access to information contained in the Registry, as well as managing, creating and transferring certificates.
Logica has undertaken similar projects for the NSW Greenhouse Gas Abatement Scheme and recently won a contract to set up the national emissions registry for the Czech Republic, expanding its position in the energy and utilities market.
