Hitachi Data Systems Appoints Southern Region Sales Manager

<p>Sydney, AUSTRALIA – April 14, 2004 – Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), has appointed Michael Tristram as its Southern Region Sales Manager.</p>
<p>Mr Tristram will be based in the company’s Melbourne office and will report directly to Mr Michael Cremen, General Manager of Hitachi Data Systems Australia/New Zealand. He will be responsible for driving Hitachi Data Systems’ Victorian sales force and managing its client accounts. In this position, Mr Tristram will develop the state’s sales strategy and drive the company’s business plans.</p>
<p>Mr Cremen said, “Hitachi Data Systems is delighted to have Michael Tristram lead our Victorian sales force. His knowledge and experience in the IT industry will help strengthen our relationship with key customers and bring new opportunities to us.”</p>
<p>Mr Tristram has over 20 years of experience in IT sales management working in Australia and Asia Pacific with companies like Memorex and Clarion. He returned to Australia in 1998 working in the storage industry and most recently with Cisco Systems before joining Hitachi Data Systems.</p>
