SYDNEY, Australia - 24 August, 2004. Alphawest, an Australian IT Services business today announced the acquisition of Inform Systems Australia (Inform).

This acquisition is part of Alphawest’s strategy to expand its position as a market leader in Information Management services nationally and provides a focused means of meeting all of the IT services needs of the legal sector (infrastructure, business continuity and information management). This follows Alphawest’s recent acquisitions of the information management business of PowerPlus in Queensland in September 2003 and the information management business of The Westbourne Group in the ACT in July 2004.

Completion of the acquisition is conditional on, among other things, the completion of due diligence.

Inform markets and supports a range of products to service the application needs of organisations in the areas of Document Management and Collaboration, Customer Relationship Management and utilities such as Document Change Management, workflow and web portal/intranet (www.informsys.com.au).

Inform has an established customer base primarily within the legal, finance and government sectors and is regarded as the market leader in information management in the legal sector. The company has experienced outstanding growth in customer numbers, revenue and profitability over the last few years.

“The acquisition of Inform Systems Australia will demonstrate the commitment Alphawest has to provide more than just technology to the market. Inform complements and strengthens the ability we have to provide valued solutions to the legal, government, commercial, banking and finance sectors,” said Garry Henley, CEO, Alphawest. “Whilst clients will have consistency dealing with the same team at Inform, the acquisition will offer a greater breadth and depth of IT Services and resources nationally”.

On acquisition, Inform will continue to run as a stand alone entity with its current management team.

Inform is strategically and operationally complementary to Alphawest. The transaction will provide Inform with the resources and distribution channel to pursue its growth strategies and enhance Alphawest’s position as a market leader in Information Management.

“Joining Alphawest will benefit our clients by broadening the IT services available nationally. We are delighted at the business solutions available through the acquisition and look forward to offering specialists skills to our clients,” said Ken Parsons, Managing Director, Inform Systems Australia.

Alphawest has strategic relationship with vendors including Sun Microsystems, Cisco Systems, HP, Trend Micro, RSA Security, Compuware, Citrix, RedDot, Stellent, HandySoft, Hummingbird, Tower Software and Optus. Leveraging these relationships to the legal industry will deliver further options for firms to implement solutions to support fee earning processes, more cost effectively and efficiently.
