<p>SYDNEY, Australia - February 18th 2004 - Polycom®, Inc. (NASDAQ: PLCM), the world’s leader in video and voice conferencing, conference bridges, and integrated web collaboration solutions, has announced three new service packages designed to help customers maximise the benefits from their investment in conferencing and collaboration solutions. The offerings include an ISDN to IP migration workshop, a service quality assessment, and a comprehensive programme for performance benchmarking and best practice assessment.</p>
<p>“These packages have been developed to proactively help customers maximise the benefits of their existing conferencing environments,” said Jean-Francois Poulain, Vice President and Managing Director, Polycom Asia Pacific. “Customers have asked for help addressing key aspects of their conferencing environments, such as how to migrate their video network to next generation IP networks, assessing system and service quality and user satisfaction, and maximising the capabilities of their investment, while reducing network costs.”</p>
<p>The ISDN to IP Transition Workshop is designed to help customers understand the scope of effort involved with transitioning their video conferencing network to IP effectively and efficiently. Deploying video conferencing over TCP/IP networks can be complex; yet the improved service quality for data rich applications, reliability, and substantial cost-savings over an ISDN environment have ensured the migration is a priority. A recent Yankee Group research survey found that 60 percent of respondents were already moving their communications networks to IP, with another 30 percent planning to do so within the next 12 to 24 months. Customers receive a comprehensive report summarising the consolidated findings of the workshop, with the issues unique to their organisation and specific recommendations and action items. The workshop delivers tangible customer benefits by enabling them to avoid common pitfalls in the ISDN to IP transition process, while ensuring a smooth transition for current users. The workshop also offers processes for demonstrating clear return-on-investment to upper management, developing an architecture that will support current and future needs, and evaluating the impact of video on other LAN/WAN applications running on the existing network.</p>
