Microsoft Initiative to Bring Positive Technology Experiences to Consumers

SYDNEY, Australia - January 20th, 2004 - InFocus® Corporation (Nasdaq: INFS), the worldwide leader in digital projection technology and services, announced that it has joined the Microsoft Consumer Experience (MCX) program as one of a select group of 30 industry leaders dedicated to educating consumers about the benefits of technology in their everyday lives. Together with Microsoft, InFocus will highlight the benefits to consumers of the evolving digital home, and drive the standardisation and adoption of innovative and easy-to-use multimedia and wireless solutions.

InFocus was the first manufacturer to demonstrate a wireless digital display solution, leveraging a beta release of future Microsoft Windows CE technology, last week at CES 2004 in the Microsoft Partner Pavilion. InFocus LiteShow™, the secure wireless connectivity solution, was on display to showcase how the technology enables users to wirelessly project data as securely and reliably as cabled projection.

InFocus was selected for the MCX program based on the company’s industry leadership and broad portfolio of solutions and services designed to enhance users’ lifestyles and multimedia experiences with projection technology.

The Microsoft Consumer Experience was created to educate individual consumers on end-to-end technology experiences. Microsoft is partnering with a select group of industry leaders to collectively define and evangelize a positive end-user technology experience for the evolving digital home, and drive the standardisation and adoption of relevant, dynamic and easy-to-use multimedia solutions. The MCX Program marks the first Microsoft cross-divisional initiative to communicate directly to consumers about these benefits.

“We’ve enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Microsoft that dates back to our earliest presentation solutions and we continue to work closely with Microsoft’s product development teams to develop quality solutions for our joint customers. We are very pleased to be a part of the Microsoft Consumer Experience program and highlight the benefits technology brings to the home and to all consumers,” said Brent Reed, Country Manager, Australia & New Zealand, InFocus. “With our consumer projectors and wireless solutions, we are increasingly seeing our technology expand beyond traditional business settings and look forward to continuing to provide innovations that benefit consumers in their everyday lives.”

“We look forward to working with industry leaders including InFocus on the MCX program to create new ways to engage consumers about technology experiences,” said Kate Carcelen, Product Manager, Microsoft’s Consumer Strategy Team. “Our goal for the MCX program is to educate consumers about how Microsoft software in conjunction with industry leading solutions, such as those from InFocus, combines to create useful, powerful technology for consumers.”
