Join CIO at an exclusive breakfast briefing to examine best practices for avoiding common virtualisation headaches, as well as how to reap the maximum efficiencies and cost-savings from virtualisation technologies
Our line-up of expert speakers will address:
Virtualisation Trends
JEAN-MARC ANNONIER
Research Manager for IT Spending,IDC Australia
IDC's research shows that 86% of Australian organisations have adopted server virtualisation to some degree. Virtualisation technologies are now evolving towards feature rich products that allow use cases to move from development environments and basic server consolidation to mission critical applications, by integrating functions such as unplanned downtime and workload balancing.
However, virtualisation creates significant challenges regarding increased systems management, additional storage capacity and specialised technical skills. These challenges will be even more acute as virtualisation progresses in other areas such as desktops, storage and network. The coming years will not be easy for decision takers who will have to decide on the best strategy for modernising their aging IT systems in a strained economic environment. Virtualisation will undoubtedly play an important role in these decisions, along with its natural extension, cloud computing, as virtual workloads will need to be easily and securely moved between in-house systems and cloud-based systems.
In this breakfast briefing, IDC will present how the economic recession is influencing technology choices, the current trends in virtualisation, what barriers remain to the adoption and the roadmap for the various virtualisation technologies
Case Study:
