Mornington Peninsula Shire selects Objective Enterprise Search

Mornington Peninsula Shire (MPS) has selected the Objective Enterprise Search solution to provide its 600 team members with a single place to search more than 10 million pieces of information stored in multiple repositories. The Shire expects this to result in more responsive and better quality service to its residents.

MPS delivers a wide range of services to its local community, such as health, transport and aged care support. With a strong customer service culture, team members need fast and easy access to all of the Shire’s documents, emails, images, maps and other information.

“We wanted to reduce the amount of time people spend conducting the same search in multiple Shire systems,” said Leigh Oldmeadow, Senior Information Planner at MPS.

“Information can be found across a range of systems. Our team members need one place to search for information held in any or all of those systems,” said Mr Oldmeadow. Objective Enterprise Search will enable MPS team members to conduct a single search, across multiple systems, simultaneously. A single set of optimised results is presented to users showing the most relevant and up-to-date information, regardless of the system in which the information is stored.

“Making sure that the most relevant results are returned at the top of the list is critical in delivering a single view of a topic. Without the ability to customise what information is most relevant, team members may need to review many pages of search results to find what they are looking for.

“By giving our team members a single search interface for all of our systems as well as optimised search results, we will achieve a significant reduction in the amount of time spent looking for information. This will contribute to better quality and more responsive service delivery for our community,” said Mr Oldmeadow.

Objective Enterprise Search is a browser-based search application from Objective Corporation, an established leader and specialist provider of proven content, collaboration and process management solutions for the public sector.

Objective Enterprise Search gives people search and retrieval access to information residing in multiple applications. This includes content within document and records management systems, intranets or websites, databases, file-shares or email systems. It provides facilities to select search scope and further refine search results by drilling down on result metadata.

Objective Enterprise Search is being deployed at MPS in stages, with new information sources being added over time.

Tony Walls, CEO of Objective Corporation said, “Objective Enterprise Search was specially developed for public sector organisations to solve a substantial challenge that they face - finding all the related and most relevant information that is stored across a number of disparate IT systems. Through the use of Objective Enterprise Search we expect that Mornington Peninsula Shire will set a new best practise benchmark for Australian councils.”
