Microsoft Silverlight shines through
Google’s App Engine, a new version of Microsoft Silverlight and the 3G iPhone catch Mike Altendorf’s attention – but one really made an impression

The third thing that grabbed my attention was the kerfuffle about the imminent 3G iPhone. Having 3G is very important because we need faster wireless networks to do the navigation that I've been talking about with reference to Silverlight, together with auto-switching so you can find a faster network such as a Wi-Fi link where available.
3G will make a huge difference to the iPhone as the interface is already great, but the inhibitor to using it as more than a phone and music player is the ability to have decent surfing speed.
The 3G iPhone should improve expansion into Asia, and also enable new video options, such as two-way video calls. Rumour has it that Apple may add a front camera and video chats to the iPhone's feature set. The few minor current deficiencies of the iPhone, such as surfing and moving between applications, doesn't take away from the fact that it's still a great device.
It's a mystery to me why Nokia, Sony Ericsson and the rest can't come up with something just as good.
