Whole of government contract set to save $20 million
Queensland government inks three year deal
The Queensland government has inked a three year contract with Australian ICT services company Data 3 which will save $20 million over the next 12 months.
Data 3 will provide energy-efficient IT equipment and services for the whole of government including desktop, laptop and server products.
The contract includes an option to extend the deal to five years.
Data 3 managing director, John Grant, said it is the first time a Aussie company has been selected in this type of panel arrangement.
Announcing the contract in parliament yesterday, the Minister for Public Works, Housing and Information and Communication Technology, Robert Schwarten, said the new arrangement has two goals.
"Firstly, to save money and, secondly, to get more energy efficient computers into government offices," he said.
Data 3, which is headquartered in Brisbane, reported revenues of $A285 million in 2006/07 and has over 350 employees.
