A further eight NT councils ink $6.5 million software contract

Meanwhile, Bundaberg Regional Council in Queensland last week selected Knowledgeone Corporation's RecFind solution for its electronic records and document management system. In December last year the Queensland Government announced new legislation forcing councils to amalgamate and centralise their use of technology applications. The council's interim administration manager, Mike Lye, said the system will integrate the newly formed regional council which is a merger between Kolan, Isis, Bundaberg and Burnett following the local government elections on March 15, 2008. The RecFind Corporate Software Suite had been operating at both Burnett and Kolan Shires for over 10 years. "Two of the four shire councils to be merged have used RecFind Corporate for many years; therefore it was a proven solution and the goal was to minimise risk," he said.
The Australian Local Government Association estimate councils collect up to $7 billion per year in rates and employ around 145,000 staff.
