Perhaps your wireless carrier released a new software update for your BlackBerry smartphone, but your favorite applications just won't work on the new build. Or maybe you were feeling daring and decided to install a leaked "beta" BlackBerry OS to check out some new features, but it drastically degraded your handheld's performance.

Amazon.com plans to release a new, free Kindle for BlackBerry mobile application in near future, according to the company's Kindle Web page. The online retailer didn't specify when exactly the app will be released, but its Kindle page currently shows a BlackBerry icon atop the words "coming soon."The news of a Kindle for BlackBerry app is no surprise; rumors regarding a BlackBerry app for Kindle hit the Web months ago, but I hadn't heard or seen anything concrete until I just noticed the listing on Amazon's Kindle page.

Microsoft on Wednesday announced the availability of a number of handsets running its brand new mobile operating system, Windows Mobile 6.5. While most of the new features and enhancements are aimed at consumers, the company says it isn't overlooking the enterprise.

Yesterday Palm released an update to its webOS mobile operating system for the Pre, v1.1.0. The new webOS packs a handful of enterprise-oriented features, like the ability to remotely wipe the Pre, along with a number of maintenance fixes and more. But perhaps most interestingly, webOS v1.1.0 also "re-enables" the iTunes sync feature that Apple blocked via its own software update earlier this month.That's good news for Pre users, since it's remarkably simple to use iTunes to sync media libraries to the Pre. However, it'll no doubt be short-lived and Pre owners will soon find themselves in the same iTunes-sync-less position they did last week, when Apple released iTunes v8.2.1, which blocked Pre syncing.
