The Benevolent Society to cut voice and data costs by 50%

IT systems re-evaluation and replacement is a response to intense competition for government funding

The Benevolent Society expects to slash the cost of its voice and data services by more than 50 per cent annually, after awarding a new IT transformation contract to Enablis.

The not-for-profit organisation, which provides community support services, said its recent decision to re-evaluate voice and data services previously provided by Telstra is part of its broader strategic goal to lead in technology-enabled service delivery.

It is also a response to intense competition for government funding. The uncertainty around public funding for community services is a key factor plaguing the industry and it’s driving the need for cost reduction and greater operational efficiency, the organisation said.

Under the contract, Enablis is providing WAN, LAN, WiFi, and unified voice services across the organisation’s 55 sites in New South Wales and Queensland. It will upgrade call centre operations.

Jon Evans, CEO of Enablis, said the organisation understands the importance of government policy and funding in the not-for-profit sector and has designed its services accordingly.

“We have developed our comUnity service suite to directly address these challenges and will be providing The Benevolent Society with smarter services that are reliable, robust and cost-effective.

“This will help the Benevolent Society be more competitive in their own marketplace and in future tenders,” he said.

The project is scheduled for completion at the end of this financial year.
